IRISS ‘What Works’ Workshop Series 2010

Building on the success of our previous 'What Works' seminar series, IRISS is hosting four day-long workshops on the theme of 'what works' with respect to effectively involving people who use services and their carers. Click here for more information about the "What works" series

These events are free and will:

• raise awareness of the importance of effectively involving people who use services and their carers 
• outline the research in this area
• highlight the practice implications of research in this area
• further the knowledge and confidence of the workforce with respect to evidence-informed practice
• provide practical examples of effectively involving people who use services and their carers
• provide an interactive networking opportunity to explore the key issues in this area

The workshops will take place at the Albany Learning and Conference Centre, 44 Ashley Street, Glasgow, G3 6DS and are brought to you by IRISS’s Evidence-Informed Practice programme. Click here for information about the venue

Who should attend?
These events are open to anyone in the health or social services sector with an interest in effectively involving people who use services and their carers.

The first two workshops are now open for booking:

Workshop 1: Effectively involving people with learning disability – Friday 10th September 2010, 10.00am to 4.00pm

This workshop will focus on two key themes:

• Developing skills in people with a learning disability to contribute to a new service initiative – Lois Cameron, Talking Mats Research and Development Centre, University of Stirling and James Reid, NHS Forth Valley
• Citizen Leadership – Lisa Curtice and Andy Miller, Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability

Workshop 2: Effectively involving people with communication difficulties – Friday 12th November 2010, 10.00am to 4.00pm
